Microsoft Office contains Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Office 2016 is available via Microsoft Office 365.
Office 2011 is still available to students, faculty, and staff via IUware.
Office 2011 Compatibility
To use Office 2016 with Mac OS X, you must be running Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) or later. For Office 2011, you must have:

All Office 2016 for Mac users received an update to the new '16.xx' build. While these builds contain advanced new features, some existing third-party extensions may have compatibility problems with the new version. If you run into this issue, contact the publisher of your third-party extension to find out if an update is available. Outlook 2016 for Mac has very limited support for synchronization of collaboration services outside basic email. With version 15.25, Office for Mac transitioned from 32-bit to 64-bit by default.

QuickTime 7 is 32 bit software and will never be updated. It's dead. Don't know which version of Toast you're referring to.
Office 2016 does work. That it doesn't for you suggests you've never applied any updates. It was originally 32 bit software and MS updated the entire thing to 64 bit quite a while ago.
Download the 16.16.14 update and install it.

It's been two years since Apple started making it known 32 bit software was going to be left behind. With the introduction of Mojave, they came right out said 32 bit software would not run in the next major release of macOS. No OS name at the time, but that is now of course Catalina.
